The following examples represent fantastic international examples of interactive digital environments, as at 2024. The purpose of this page is to provide inspiration for further possibilities for New Zealand organisations and scenarios that might benefit from services such as those outlined.
1. Cyark, Fujairah
Cyark is a well known interactive heritage environment production organisation. With its custom platform Tapestry, it extends traditional viewpoint-oriented digital tours with profiles of inhabitants, their voices and and stories connected to specific zones or inhabitation patterns of sites. The history of place is not just the empirical, physical fabric of what exists or what has been, but the collective stories of inhabitants through time.
2. Laboratoire MAP, Notre Damè Cathedral, ongoing.
Laboratoire MAP is ‘a Proprietary Research Unit (UPR) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS)’ in France, and has been involved in the documentation and forensic study of the Notre Dame Cathedral after is suffered a destructive fire in 2019. Extending on reality capture using point clouds, the development and usage of the technology Aioli Cloud as a multi-modal documentation tool similar to Tapestry but focused more on the collaborative classification and management of physical assets and condition or damage zones. Additionally the ability to self-extend the platform through th use of a project-specific ‘data model’ management is featured. This sophisticated thinking and data management approach is a leading example in the field of heritage reality capture and archaeology in the built environment.
3. OVERHE4D, St Bartholomew, Kolin, CZ
OVERHE4D is an eminent international company specialising in site capture and the extensibility of representation and experience through game engine development and realtime visualisation. This particular example, showing a church building accessed and experienced without physical access to its interior, shows the capability of this organisation and the technology to explain areas, spaces, ornaments and artefacts through extraordinarily high quality mesh, texture and user interface elements.
ReAnimate provides services similar to the above examples, through its expert understanding of reality capture, digital automation, mapping and documentation techniques at built environment and complex mechanical assembly scales, provided locally based on Wellington New Zealand.
Please browse the main site for many examples of its work, and feel free to get in contact if the above and ReAnimate examples might help you tell your story.
